Episode 142 – Normalcy bias vs. Situational Awareness

A lot is made about situational awareness and I think it’s an important survival skill to know. So I recently read a great blog article by the same title called “In the Rabbit Hole.” I thougt it was well written and makes excellent points, so I used it as the basis of this show. You should check out their blog and podcast. Some people also think situational awareness only applies to personal safety, but it can also apply to financial matters and wilderness survival. So thanks for dowloading and listening. Bob Mayne, Today’s Survival Show

I am new to your show as of last week, I am almost current on the shows, as I am listening to this episode about the situational awareness, as a truck driver, I see the texting, movie watching, and working on the computer while driving ALL the time.

As a fellow traveler you didn’t mention to watch the big trucks, if they are all getting over in the left lane, it is not a free ticket to pass on the right, there may be an accident or cop on the side that you cannot see from your vantage point.

Also, give the Semi-Trucks the ROOM we need to stop, if you don’t, your little (3000lb) car makes a nice crush zone for my (80,000lb) truck, the Law of Gross Tonnage is in my favor, I will win the battle of steel.

On a different subject, here is a magnetic holster that you can make yourself, for quick access to your weapon.
